And this Blog Post and Open Letter is about Dr. Seuss ...

And this Blog Post and Open Letter is about Dr. Seuss ...

Some body on Fandom edited the Dr. Seuss On The Loose article. I decided to Copy Edit it, and I decided to type about it here.

Charles Martin Jones, or Chuck Jones, the guy that often had an Autograph or Signature for his on screen credit, not unlike Jim Henson, ... is a guy that designed characters to have caricatures and other exaggerations ... One such example is not unlike Precious Moments.

I am talking about the drawings, not the song. For what it is worth, I LOVE PHILADELPHIA SOUL.

I also love the unique styles of Chuck Jones.

His first independent FORAY adapting Doctor Seuss, a sort of Ghost Writer at Warner Brothers, various stories ... beginning with HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS.

Just looking at The Grinch, you could tell that Chuck Jones had fun.

THE GRINCH GOT AN IDEA ... AN AWFUL IDEA ... THE GRINCH GOT A WONDERFULLY AWFUL IDEA !!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsDGn0MZwSM

The Grinch acted crazy the entire special.

Later, Chuck Jones, for what ever reason that is never going to make sense thus I am not dwelling on that one, ... perhaps he was too busy pretending to be Jim Henson at The American Broadcasting Company.

And Chuck Jones made one other special: Horton Hears A Who!

A never finished sequel, Dr. Whoovey Hears A Who! was never finished.

The Cat In The Hat was in pre production at the same time, AND FOR ALL WE KNOW, AN ENTIRE TELEVISION SERIES MIGHT AS WELL HAVE BEEN IN THE WORKS.

... The Cat In The Hat was completed by David Hudson DePatie and Isadore Friz Freleng. These two continued independently utilizing a Two Triangles, Two Semicircles "WB" logo MADE BY CHUCK JONES and several cheap sounding remixes of their theme music. LIMITED ANIMATION became IN STYLE; These bumpers or what ever they are called have Limited Animation also.

During these Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies entries of the 1960s curiously DOES NOT HAVE Bugs Bunny. David H. DePatie, who was producer all ready, promoted Friz Freleng to Producer also. ( They fired Chuck Jones. ) Any ways DePatie & Freleng are all most all ways credited together at the same time. Pause the credits and you can see both names.

MEANWHILE, CHUCK JONES PREFERRED TO HAVE HIS OWN TITLE CARD.

The opening credits of The Cat In The Hat zooms in on one of his striped hats. Each stripe is a title card ( or what ever you call them ) ... now you get to see The Voice Of The Cat ... what ever his name happens to be ... no wonder Carlos got upset about Cat's trespassing !! ... is Allen Sherman.

Music By Dean Elliott ... all you so called Rappers can not hold a candle to the shine of Dean Elliott.

PRODUCTION DESIGN BY

MAURICE NOBLE

Another guy on Chuck Jones's team.

DIRECTED BY

HAWLEY PRATT

A guy from DFE Films team.

PRODUCED BY

CHUCK        TED

JONES         GEISEL

EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS

DAVID H.               FRIZ

DEPATIE               FRELENG

The problem with that arrangement, is that Chuck Jones did not want it that way.

In fact, the only other time that Chuck Jones had any Executive Producer is two of the Tom & Jerry entries, a Walter Bien from SiB Productions. The remaining ones had an impressive, yet separate, credit for a Production Supervisor: Les Goldman.

He must have had Deep Pockets.

Chuck Jones also also preferred to not share the title card as Director either. ... This is how Maurice Noble became Production Designer.

Chuck Jones tried his best to get a solo credit when ever he could.

And with DFE's contemporary, often cost cutting designs, you do not see any visual indications that Chuck Jones ever was involved with The Cat In The Hat.

Even so, DFE continued to retain the same hybrid staff from both studios. Dean Elliott and Maurice Noble continued for two other specials.

The Lorax is next; They were releaseing these ones after the other ... one time per year.

Notice that each credit gets its own background ... until you get to Producers. Now you have an unusually placed Friz Freleng credit that changes to Ted Geisel ON THE SAME BACKGROUND. David H. DePatie is credited as a solo Executive Producer. The background changes as it is supposed to.

A perfect opportunity for Chuck Jones to collaborate with them without giving up his custom credit.

A perfect compromise !!

Had he chosen to join them, David H. DePatie and Friz Freleng would have shared the same credit space as Executive Producers.

( But why would Chuck Jones want to work with the same people that fired him a decade ago ?! )

And now for DOCTOR SEUSS ON THE LOOSE:

The same thing happens, but you need to wait until the end. Green Eggs And Ham was chosen first, but considering how stretched out The Cat In The Hat special is, they felt it best to add other stories. Dr. Seuss On The Loose would have made a good title for a series. The Three Decker is now The Sneetches, The Zax, and Green Eggs & Ham. Too Many Daves and What Was I Afraid Of? were not adapted.

Perhaps they should have made a compilation feature film not unlike The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh.

Hosted by The Cat In The Hat and narrated by Hans Conreid, it is otherwise about The Sneetches, and their tribal feuds about Star Belly Tattoos.

Sylvester McMonkey McBean became a multi trillionaire.

After that, The Cat decides to sing about Prax, formerly a Prairie, now a City. Two tribal Zax, though non violent, are stubborn, and unable to change.

NEITHER ONE WANTS TO ADMIT HE IS WRONG, THUS THEY JUST STAYED THERE FOR EVER. NOT UNLIKE PROBABLY ANY FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN ANY MEN. THAT IS RIGHT !! YOU GUESSED IT !! EVERY FRIENDSHIP ENDS UP JUST LIKE THE TWO ZAX. A DUMB MISUNDERSTANDING AND THE FRIENDSHIP STALLED.

Green Eggs And Ham is also about trying something new, yet chaotic, and disasterous.

Remember how I said I Am Sam, as in Sammy Dullard from Rocket Power ?? and Treveon Hemry is Otto Rocket ?? ... I might as well be the Sam I Am character also. And if I ever go out of my way to develop any friendships, I might sound as bad as Sam I Am when all I really ought to be is Sammy Dullard.

In this case, I must understand that men are painfully shy and afraid and act as if every one of them has Body Dysmorphia Disorder. ... The days of P90X and Bow Flex are over. However, THIS IS SOME THING I CONTINUE TO DEVOTE MY SELF TO. ... not unlike The Lorax, that says he is going to CONTINUE TO SPEAK FOR THE TREES despite it being not in style any longer, I shall continue to take care of my body.

by my self ... away from every body else.

No need for me to ask ad nauseum about Green Eggs And Ham.

No Wonder [ Whoever That Guy Is ] does not like not only Green Eggs And Ham but also Sam I Am ...

SAM I AM EVEN RAN OVER GUY.

WOULD YOU COULD YOU IN A CAR EAT THEM EAT THEM HERE THEY ARE !!

Sam I Am even goes as far as to REMOVE RAIL TRACKS, DEMOLISH A BRIDGE, PARK A SHIP IN ITS PATH, DRUG THE ENGINEER, SINK BOTH THE TRAIN AND THE SHIP, BURY HIM SELF IN A TREASURE CHEST IN A LOCATION THAT WOULD BE UNEARTHED BY THE CRASHING WATER WAVES.

What an expensive Vendetta ... !!

You can make all your dreams come true when you encounter a Treasure Chest filled with Treasure.

Apparently Sam I Am's dreams are to force others to change their diets OR ELSE.

I have other goals in life besides friends.

( even if Treveon Hemry has a terrible diet. )

( If Treveon Hemry ate Green Eggs & Ham, it would be an improvement. )

( Seriously Treveon Hemry's diet is that bad. )

And yet Sam I Am has many friends. He owns real estate, public transportation, probably the entire town, and is friends with a dog, a tiger, a mouse, a fox, and a goat. And later he befriends several other dogs also. ... and according to Sam I Am, they all eat Green Eggs & Ham regularly together ... Green Eggs & Ham is all the rage.

PERHAPS I GOT THE CHARACTER ROLES REVERSED.

I am obviously the nameless guy that is perpetually solo be cause I wish to take proper care of my body, and not feast all the time.

AND IF YOU WISHED TO BE FRIENDS AS MUCH AS I WANT TO BE FRIENDS, YOU ARE GOING ABOUT IT ALL WRONG.

Treveon Hemry probably WOULD go to great lengths to find out why ... despite me telling Body Wash why ... and was going to tell Trey also, except he noticed that I some how was not spending enough time with Body Wash. ...

Also Trey probably WOULD go to great lengths in revenge for ruining his birthday that I was not expecting.

If you did not figure out by now, I do not like Unexpected. ... I like Plans.

I MEAN WHO TELLS YOU THEIR BIRTHDAY HOURS BEFORE IT, AND WHO FORGETS THE CAKE ?!

OR EVEN A COUPLE OF MUFFINS WITH FRUIT GUMMIES FOR CANDLES ... ONE DECORATED MUFFIN SPELLING OUT A 2 AND THE OTHER DECORATED MUFFIN SPELLING OUT A 3 ?!

I wonder if I should do that for his next birthday ... getting two muffins decorated with gummies spelling out a 2, and a 4. ... ?!

AND TAKE LOTS AND LOTS OF PICTURES ?!

And now I am the one that sounds as hectic as SAM I AM.

...

Never mind about all that for now. ... Time to talk about the credits again. ...

They do the same thing. This time it is the credits lumped together at the end, but they are still doing the same thing as before. All the credits flash EXCEPT the producers credit. They are eplit in half again with Friz Freleng first, followed by Ted Geisel. David H. DePatie is credited as solo Executive Producer.

I very much believe that DFE Films intended to include Chuck Jones in Friz Freleng's producer spot.

AND NOW FOR THE HOOBER BLOOB HIGHWAY

Literally the same Curiosity happens. ... The credits, now appearing in the opening of it, flash ... EXCEPT FOR PRODUCERS. ...

And yet again and it still does not make any sense otherwise ... Friz Freleng's name appears first, IMMEDIATELY followed by Ted Geisel.

Chuck Jones could have easily inserted his name in Friz Freleng's spot, and Friz Freleng could have easily been credited as the second Executive Producer at the same time as David H. DePatie.

However, since The Hoober Bloob Highway is the last time Chuck Jones's staff like Dean Elliott worked for DFE Films, they gave up on this Split Producers Card in the next one ... HALLOWEEN IS GRINCH NIGHT has music by Joe Raposo, and Geisel is the solo producer. David H. DePatie and Friz Freleng are together on the same title card as Executive Producers ( which they all ways were in real life )

...

The same exact thing happens for PONTOFFEL POCK, WHERE ARE YOU ?!

I can sadly relate to that special also. And then Pontoffel Pock becomes a world renowned wanted man not unlike Lupin III ...

LUPIN GET BACK HERE !!

In the next special, which keeps getting postponed with every special now without Chuck Jones's staff there to help them ...

is The Grinch Grinches The Cat In The Hat. ...

They revert to Friz Freleng being producer again BUT THIS TIME, THE FIRST TIME, THE ONLY TIME ... their names are on the same screen at the same time.

I am wrapping this up for now.
